Michael Scarpiello

Mike began his musical journey as a “rocker”, playing guitar and lead singing for groups such as WAX, MOONSHINE and JELLO BRICK ROAD (in all fairness it should be noted that Tommy T did likewise). He discovered that he had a talent for songwriting and transitioned into the singer/songwriter domain. After a couple of production deals that gave him invaluable experience, he met and teamed up with Blue Sky members Ed Pease and Harold Payne. And thus the magic began. Crank Music was born and developed into one of the most respected and prolific songwriting teams of its era, priding itself on a repertoire that ranged from R&B to Country Pop and everything in between. After several extremely successful years of writing, producing and performing with Harold and Ed(as Blue Sky), Mike signed a staff writing deal with Warner Brothers Music (’77-80) where he continued to hone his songwriting and production skills. He additionally authored two screenplays and went on to write and produce a multitude of songs with Ed Fournier, a number of which were featured in films and recorded by various artists. Mike is currently semi-retired and living on the Central Coast of California where he continues to perform live as he has done his entire career.
